How to Write Killer AI Prompts: The MAADII Framework for Better Outputs

Welcome to the world of AI prompting — where one well-written sentence can save you hours of work, and vague instruction can make your AI sound like it drank too much NyQuil.

If you’ve ever opened ChatGPT and gotten results that felt robotic, bland, or just meh — it’s not you. And it’s not the AI either.
It’s your prompt.
And we can fix that.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the same powerful strategies we teach in our Maadii Prompting Course — including:

  • What prompting really is (and why it matters)

  • The different types of prompts (and when to use each)

  • The MAADII framework (your new best friend)

  • Power tips to upgrade your results

  • How to fix bad AI outputs without rage-quitting

Let’s go.

What Is Prompting? (And Why Should You Care?)

Prompting is the way you talk to AI.
The input → that generates the output. Simple as that.

If you put in vague, messy instructions, you’ll get vague, messy results.
But if you learn how to prompt with clarity, intent, and strategy, AI becomes your best friend.

This is my strong statement of the day: Prompting is the most underrated business skill of the decade.

Types of Prompts (and When to Use Them)

There’s more than one way to talk to an AI model. Let’s break down the major styles.

Instructional

You know exactly what you want. Give the AI clear directions.

Conversational

You’re exploring or brainstorming. Ask open-ended questions.

Chain of Thought

You want to understand the logic behind the output. Think step-by-step.

Multi-Step

You’ve got a big task that needs to be broken into bite-sized pieces.

Using the right type of prompt is a great start, but it is only the beginning. You also need to include the right details in your prompt and that is where the MAADII framework comes in.

The MAADII Prompt Framework

Let’s talk about how to prompt like a pro.
Meet your new favorite acronym:

M – Mission

What’s your goal? What are you trying to achieve?

“I want to create a short product description for a new tool.”

A – Audience

Who is this for?

“This is for B2B buyers at mid-market SaaS companies.”

A – Act As

Who should the AI pretend to be?

“You are a senior copywriter for a top-performing SaaS brand.”

Together, the two A’s tackle the “Who” — who you’re writing for and who you’re writing as.

D – Data

What source of truth should the AI use (or avoid)?

“Use only the information provided below. Do not guess.”

I – Instructions

What do you want it to do?

“Write 3 versions of a LinkedIn post promoting this event.”

I – Intended Output

What should the result look like?

“Write in a casual tone. Use bullet points. Keep it under 100 words.”

Power Tips: Tricks to Supercharge Your Prompts

Now that you’ve got the MAADII structure down, here are some next-level tricks to boost your results even further:

Add Emotion

AI tends to write better when it understands stakes (e.g., “This is critical.”)

Set the Tempo

Want it fast? Say so. Want depth? Tell it to slow down and think.

Incentivize

Funny but true — AI gives better outputs when it thinks it’s being evaluated.

Raise the Role

“Act as a sales manager” = basic. “Act as a top-tier sales leader” = better.

Use Constraints

Limit word count, tone, or style to focus the output.

Ask for Questions

End your prompt with: “Before we begin, do you have any questions?

Build a Prompt Library (So You Don’t Reinvent the Wheel)

If you find yourself writing similar prompts over and over, it’s time to build a Prompt Library.

A prompt library is a bank of reusable, high-performing prompts that:

  • Save you time

  • Standardize your workflows

  • Get better over time

Use something simple like Google Docs, Notion, or Sheets. It doesn’t need to be fancy — just organized and accessible.

Oh — and Maadii already built a giant one for you. You're welcome.

How to Fix Bad AI Outputs

Even great prompts flop sometimes. Here’s how to handle it like a pro:

Option 1: Refine the Prompt

Use this when the AI completely missed the mark.

How to fix it:

  • Clarify the mission or instructions

  • Add constraints like tone, format, word count

  • Break complex tasks into chunks

Example:

❌ “Write a summary of this article.”
✅ “Write a 3-sentence summary for Facebook in plain English.”

Option 2: Edit the Output

Use this when the result is close but needs tweaking.

Just give it specific feedback:

“Try again, but in a more confident tone.”
“Can you reformat this into a bulleted list?”
“Simplify the language to a 7th-grade reading level.”

You’re basically an editor — and AI won’t get offended.

Final Thoughts: You Don’t Need to Be Perfect. Just Iterative.

Here’s the truth:
The people who get wild results with AI?
They’re not magicians. They’re relentless editors.

Average prompts get average results. Yours won’t.

Use MAADII.
Use the tips.
Build your library.
Iterate like it’s your job.

And before long, your AI won’t just be helpful — it’ll be your best-performing teammate.
